Beauty can help us confront things we don’t really want to think about while art helps me to cope with the adversities of life. I aim to create beautiful pieces of art talking about things that move, frighten or inspire me.
Carie Oltmann is a german artist based in Valencia, Spain. She studied Visual Communication at the University of Applied Science Düsseldorf and worked as a graphic designer in Germany and Spain for more than two decades, interrupted by a year of travelling. Lately, she has studied at the Ceramic Arts college in Valencia, Spain, where she took the step from 2D to 3D, in form of objects and sculpture.
She has participated in various group shows and her works are held in private collections in Germany, Spain, the USA, Australia and New Zealand as well as the Ceramic Museum of Manises, Spain.
In 2019 she won the Design Award at the XIV International Ceramics Biennial of Manises in Spain.
She is working as an artist and designer, using different medias, like paint mediums, textiles, photography and, of course, ceramics.
